Pickling consists of surface treatments used to remove rust or stains from carbon steel, usually after hot working processes. The workpiece is dipped into a vat of pickle liquor, which contains hydrochloric acid. Pickling baths must be heated and then maintained at a temperature of around 90°C (195°F) for efficiency purposes. The heating loop includes a corrosion-resistant pump and an impervious graphite heat exchanger. GAB Neumann impervious graphite block and annular groove heat exchangers are perfectly adapted to the heating of carbon steel pickling baths.
